Who we are

Troop 610 (“we,” “us,” “our”) is a Scouting America troop chartered by Cypress Islamic Center in Cypress, Texas. This policy explains what information we collect when you use troop610.com, how we use it, and the choices you have. We keep this site simple and collect only what we need.

Who This Site Is For

This site is intended for parents, guardians, and adult volunteers. Scouts under 13 should use the site with a parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted information without a parent’s permission, contact us and we will delete it.

Information We Collect

Information you give us

• Payments: When you pay troop fees or event fees, we collect your name, your Scout’s name, email, and payment type. Payment card details are entered with our payment processor, Stripe (stripe.com), and are never stored on our website or seen by us.
• Comments: If you comment on a post, we collect your name, email address, website (optional), and the comment itself.
• Contact forms and subscriptions: If you contact us or subscribe to reminders, we collect your name and email address and the contents of your message.

Information collected automatically

• Basic visitor data such as IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, and referring page. This comes from our hosting platform (WordPress.com) through standard logs and site statistics.
• Cookies, which are small files that help the site work and help us understand how it’s used.

How We Use Information

• To process payments and match them to the right Scout
• To share troop news, event details, reminders, and policies
• To respond to questions and messages
• To display and moderate comments
• To keep the site secure, prevent spam, and improve it

We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.

Who We Share Information With

We share information only when needed to run the site and troop:

• Payment processor: to complete your payment
• WordPress.com (Automattic): our hosting provider, which also provides site statistics, spam filtering, and email subscriptions
• Google: if you view our embedded Google Calendar, Google may collect standard usage data
• Scouting America / Sam Houston Area Council: only information needed for official registration and records, which is handled through their own systems
• Legal reasons: if required by law or to protect the safety of our Scouts

Comments and Public Content

Comments on posts are public. Anything you write, including your display name, may be visible to other visitors. Please do not include phone numbers, addresses, or sensitive details in comments. We may edit or remove comments that are inappropriate, off-topic, or unsafe, and we moderate comments before or after they appear.

Photos and Youth Safety

We follow Scouting America’s Youth Protection guidelines. We do not post a Scout’s full name alongside a photo, and we post photos of Scouts only with parent or guardian consent. If you want a photo or comment removed, contact us and we will remove it promptly.

We use cookies and similar tools to keep the site working, remember preferences, and measure traffic. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though some features, such as comments, may not work as well.

Data Retention and Security

We keep information only as long as needed for troop operations, payment records, and legal or accounting requirements. We use reasonable safeguards, including secure (HTTPS) connections, but no online system is completely secure.
